ACell + PRP
We take pride in offering a range of non-surgical hair restoration treatments, including ACell + PRP. This innovative therapy leverages the body's own healing properties to stimulate hair growth, providing a more natural hair restoration solution for both men and women over the age of 18. Serving the communities of Tacoma, Spokane, and Seattle, Washington, our approach is tailored to each individual, ensuring you receive the highest-quality care for your specific condition and concerns.
At Northwest Hair Restoration, we offer ACell + PRP therapy as an early intervention nonsurgical solution to prevent additional hair loss. We also offer this nonsurgical solution as an additional treatment to supplement surgical hair restoration procedures, promoting healthy healing and reducing the appearance of scarring on the scalp. Dr. Robert Niedbalski is known as a pioneer in the area for the use of regenerative medicine techniques such as ACell + PRP for the treatment of genetic hair loss in its early stages.
What is ACell + PRP?
ACell is a regenerative medicine company that develops products designed to facilitate the body's ability to repair itself at a cellular level. ACell’s MatriStem® technology is a protein complex that acts like a scaffold for new tissue growth. Hair restoration surgeons like Dr. Robert Niedbalski combine ACell with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections into both during hair transplant surgery. We also use ACell as a holding solution for grafts before they are transplanted back into the scalp. This combination of treatments promotes healing and improves graft survival.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated component of blood that is used to promote healing in the body. After obtaining a blood sample from you, similar to the way your blood is drawn for a blood panel, we spin it in a centrifuge system to separate the PRP from the other components of blood. The PRP is then combined with ACell to create a potent blend of healing and growth factors that will enhance the results of your hair transplant or reduce hair loss/thinning in the future.
Benefits of Adding ACell + PRP Injections to Your Hair Transplant
ACell + PRP injections can be used to supplement your hair restoration surgery, further promoting healthy healing and enhancing the survival rates of your grafted follicles. During this part of your procedure, Dr. Niedbalski will make multiple small injections into the upper layers of the scalp, including the donor area.
Common benefits our patients receive from this additional step include:
- Faster healing period
- Greater comfort during healing
- Stabilization of hair loss
- Improved hair quality for native hair
- Minimize scar tissue formation*
*Please note that scars will still be present following surgical procedures.
Acell for Hair Growth FAQs
We understand that you may have questions about what you can expect from an ACell + PRP treatment as well as whether you are a good candidate for the procedure. We encourage you to explore the FAQs our dedicated team put together for more information.
Am I a Good Candidate for ACell + PRP Treatment?
If you are looking for a non-surgical solution to reduce your thinning hair/hair loss and are over the age of 18, ACell + PRP injections may be right for you. This treatment may also be right for you in the event you are undergoing surgical hair restoration and are searching for a natural supplement to your procedure.
During your consultation, Dr. Robert Niedbalski will listen to your goals and expectations for treatment and assess the status of your hair loss. He will then develop a treatment plan customized to meet your hair restoration goals and expectations.
How Soon Can I Get in for an ACell + PRP Treatment?
ACell + PRP therapy appointments are typically available about one week out from the point of inquiry. We ask that patients set aside about 60 minutes for a full scalp treatment and 60 minutes for an eyebrow treatment.
What Can I Expect After My ACell + PRP Treatment?
Following your ACell + PRP treatment, you may experience mild to moderate scalp discomfort for one or two days. We will provide you with detailed post-op instructions, so you can relax and be comfortable at home. Although not common, you may also experience some swelling in the forehead, which may be visible for 2 - 3 days. If you are concerned about this, you may want to schedule your treatment on a Thursday or Friday so you can recover over the weekend.
There will not be any visible signs of the treatment on your scalp. However, it is important to allow your body the necessary time to recover. Ideally, we ask that you avoid vigorous exercise for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Most patients are able to return to their everyday tasks after about two days following treatment.
How Soon Will I See My Results, and How Long Will They Last?
New hair growth typically becomes visible within 4 - 6 months following an ACell + PRP procedure. Hair will continue to thicken over a period of 12 - 15 months. These results generally last for months, and even years, before regression may begin to occur. Note that in some cases, a positive result simply means less hair loss.
However, maintaining an active follow-up relationship with Dr. Niedbalski will ensure an up-to-date comprehensive hair restoration treatment plan, so you will know when it is time for another procedure to keep your hair growth thriving.
